25 years of trying to get up that great big hill of hope and all that. – Featuring a song I first discovered through Lorde's newsletter and heard again in Netflix series "The Diplomat".
Love the 4 Non Blondes reference! Great column. I think a name like "3 for the record", or "Rae's three" could work for the column, or something along those lines. Excited for the EP too!
For some reason, "3 drops of golden sound" popped into my head after reading your comment and I think I'll use that as the name of the column starting next month. Thank you, Mo!
What a journey!! And congrats on the job! I have chosen stability over creativity many times in my life and it was always the right decision. Now I’m choosing creativity, but that’s only because I have more stability!
That’s a strange stipulation from your day job that you can’t still make music for money, but presumably you can still make music not for money? If so I hope you’ll continue to share it here!
Thank you for the well wishes, Elle! Yeah, it was a hard decision but it's the right one for me at this point of my life.
They didn't say I "can't make money from music", it was more I "can't make money from other entertainment/performance companies". They did say I could discuss it with them on a case-by-case basis, but because a lot of the projects that actually paid me were by other entertainment/performance-related companies, I find it unlikely that I will earn money again from doing music for as long as I'm working for this (or any other arts) company in Singapore.
Yes, I still can and will make music! Starting by mixing my EP next month, continuing to post a video on my YouTube channel every week, and working on more compositions.

Happy I could help in any way. Can't wait to read it. Also can't wait for the new music!

Oh that’s very exciting!!! Sometimes not having that monetary pressure on your art can be a really good thing. Can’t wait for your EP!
